Kinectrics Achieves Metrology Milestone
August 2009
Kinectrics Inc. today announced that Kinectrics’ TDT Metrology Department has been awarded ISO 17025 accreditation. The Metrology Laboratory’s specific measurement capabilities have now been certified by the National Research Council of Canada’s Calibration Laboratory Assessment Service (CLAS) and accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC).

“This award represents a critical milestone in the life of Kinectrics and further supports our drive for ongoing excellence when it comes to providing quality assurance for our customers,” said Lings.  “It is also particularly important that the Kinectrics Metrology Department is now able to directly calibrate instruments that support numerous other company technical accreditations—including ISO 17025—for our Analytical Chemistry, High Voltage / High Current labs and Mechanical testing facilities”, confirmed Dave Vellekoop, Kinectrics’ Quality Manager.

The ISO 17025 standard for laboratories extends well beyond the traditional ISO 9001 designation, due to its requirements for attention to robust work instructions, documented levels of uncertainty, and a strict level of control over the instruments and equipment used to perform accredited tests, as well as the comprehensive training of staff needed to complete the tests.

Kinectrics has expended several years of dedicated, diligent effort in order to meet the rigorous criteria required to attain this important technical accreditation.
